Founded in 2023 at Florida State University, My Soul Sister was established with a mission to empower and uplift African American women and youth. Our founders, Taylor Gibson and Taina Pierre, envisioned an organization that could address the unique challenges faced by our communities and create opportunities for growth and success. From our inception, we have been dedicated to fostering a supportive environment where individuals can thrive. We have quickly built valuable partnerships at local, national, and international levels, allowing us to extend our reach and impact. Our initiatives range from providing essential aid to vulnerable populations to promoting educational programs that transcend borders.
Our mission at My Soul Sister is "To create constant impact through community service, mentorship, professional development, and higher education by redefining and rebuilding the outlook on African American women and youth."
Taylor Gibson has successfully completed her Master of Science in Education Policy and Evaluation. Her passion for education has driven her to pursue a Doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of South Florida. Taylor plans to teach high school social science in Hillsborough County and is dedicated to making a significant impact in the field of education.
After graduating from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a minor in Biology, Taina Pierre has focused on a pre-med path. She aims to deepen her engagement in the medical field and give back to the community through volunteer efforts. Currently, she works remotely as a medical scribe with ScribeAmerica and serves as a medical assistant at Gardens Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery Center. Taina also dedicates time to studying and preparing for the MCAT.
